- [Guardianship](https://janfriedmanlaw.com/guardianship/): Guardianship is a legal relationship where a court appoints an individual (the guardian) to make decisions for another person (the protected person), who is unable to make their own decisions due to incapacity. Guardians may be authorized to make decisions over residence, health care, and finances, but if a protected person has substantial finances, a conservator may also be appointed. A guardian, whose role is to enhance the protected person’s independence and self-reliance, is appointed only as necessary. Now, I represent guardians and people under guardianship to support self-determination, independence, and safety of people under guardianship. I also represent people with disabilities on guardianship and other issues, including assistive technology. Finally, I continue to provide training via workshops and guidance for guardianship and disability rights legislation.
